Manage your Mind Workshops

The Counselling and Mental Health Support Team runs a series of workshops covering Social Confidence', 'Getting Things Done', 'Stress and Worry' and a 'Mindfulness' programme to help you deal with the pressures of university life.  The workshops are repeated four times throughout the year, while Mindfulness is a two week course.  These take place at City Campus and are open to all Northumbria students on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Please note that workshops have now finished for this academic year and new dates will be advertised on this page in the new academic year 2019/2020.

 Social Confidence

This workshop will help you to do well in social situations, build confidence and assertiveness, get on better with others and deal with difficult situations. The workshop is great for the challenge of being at university with all those other students!  The workshop will take place at City Campus from 2.30 - 3.30pm.

Getting Things Done

This is a great workshop for understanding different reasons behind procrastination, how to avoid this and how to get things done.  Please be aware this is not a study skills workshop.  This is more about understanding yourself and why you procrastinate, rather than tips for managing study demands.  The workshop will take place at City Campus from 2.30 - 3.30pm.

Stress and Worry

This workshop will help you understand your stress and practically address it, but also looks at how to deal with worrying thoughts that may result in further stress and anxiety. The workshop will take place at City Campus from 2.30 - 3.30pm.

Mindfulness Training

We are offering a mindfulness programme for students wishing to find out more about this powerful way to enjoy life more fully.  During this two-week course students will gain experience of several Mindfulness techniques and the chance to practise them in a relaxed and friendly environment. No previous experience required, just an interest in gaining greater control of your life.  The course will take place at City Campus from 2.30 - 3.30pm.
