International Postgraduate students can benefit from a scholarship worth up to 100% of the year one Masters tuition fee for courses starting this January.

I am the Future | International Scholarship, January 2018

Northumbria is a Global University with over 30,000 students from 100 countries. Our international graduates make an important contribution to organisations and businesses in the UK and across the world.

The University will be awarding 2 scholarships worth 100% and 3 scholarships worth 50% of Year 1 international Postgraduate tuition fees to students who apply for a full Masters programme by 15 November 2017.  Please note, this scholarship is only open to students who are ordinarily resident outside of the UK, or dependencies and the European Union. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for further information on scholarship eligibility.

All you need to do is produce a 30 second video which tells us why Northumbria University is a great place to prepare for your future. Click on the drop down menus below for more information on who is eligible to apply for this scheme and how it will be awarded.

 

 

 

Who is eligible for this scholarship ?

You must meet the following conditions to compete for one of the five available scholarships:

  • You must be ordinarily resident in a country outside of the United Kingdom or it's dependancies and the European Union
  • You must hold an 'international' fee status
  • Students who have applied for a Postgraduate programme at the University by 15 November 2017 can apply for a scholarship worth 100% or 50% of the Year 1 international tuition fees
  • You must accept an offer made by the University by following the instructions, which will be sent to you. Please note that students holding both conditional and unconditional offers are eligible to enter
  • You must be joining Year 1 of a Postgraduate programme commencing in January 2018
  • You must not have previously studied at the University
  • You must not be joining the University through an articulation agreement
  • Employees, agents or contractors of Northumbria University are not eligible

How do I win a scholarship?

We will ask you to submit a video lasting no more than 30 seconds which we will share on the University’s social media channels. Your video should answer one key question:

What do you want to see in my video?

Your video can be made using any techniques or content you want, but it must be entirely your own work. You don’t have long to impress us, so make sure you produce something that is innovative, exciting and engaging. Please note that the judges will not be focusing on your film making skills. The winning videos are likely to be those which present powerful and compelling messages in an original way.

There are a few things you must not include in your video. Don’t include content that infringes a third party’s copyright. For example, your video shouldn’t include any images, footage, music or audio that you don’t have permission to use.

Any videos featuring the following content will be disqualified:

  • Sexually explicit content or pornography
  • Hateful, defamatory or discriminatory content
  • Content which incites hatred against any individual or group
  • Content which exploits minors
  • Depictions of cruelty, unlawful acts or extreme violence
  • Content which promotes a fraudulent business
  • Content which breaches any law

How will the University select winners?

All videos submitted will be assessed by Northumbria staff to ensure that they are engaging and effectively showcase the University’s offering.

The best videos will then be shared on the University’s social media channels. The videos which generate the largest number of likes and shares will be put forward to our judging panel who will decide on the five scholarship winners.

Please note that the University’s decision with regards to the winning videos will be final.

How to submit your video

Please complete the below form to submit your video, you should host your video in a public state on the Vimeo website, and include the web address to the video in the form below. Please note you must have submitted an application for a place on a course and be in receipt of a student ID to submit your video, you must have applied for a course by 15th November 2017 and have submitted your video by no later than 24th November 2017.
