Welcome to Newcastle - The UK's best student city!
Rob Carthy - Director International Development
Experience all the fun that the city voted the best city for students 4 times in 6 years* can offer you during the summer.
As one of the UK's largest and most respected modern universities, we can offer you an unrivalled experience through the quality teaching and exceptional facilities at our campus in Newcastle. We are located centrally in Newcastle upon Tyne, a truly student friendly city with low living costs and the people who are known as the nicest and most welcoming in the country - The Geordies! Combined with our exciting module offer for the summer, Newcastle has enabled Northumbria to grow into the outstanding international university it is today.
Whether you are an experienced traveller or this is your first time out of your own country, it can be overwhelming to arrive somewhere new for the first time. We want you to feel at home when you are here and we pride ourselves on being knowledgeable and approachable so we can help you with anything you need during your three weeks with us. We carefully select and train our staff with the highest standards and excellence in our service. Our coordinators and administrators are experienced travellers themselves and will make sure you have the best possible time!
From 09 July 2017, our three-week summer school opens its doors for you to experience: Culture and Heritage in Britain, as part of our award-winning Faculty of Arts, Design and Social Sciences; Sport Event Management, studying the organisation of The Great North Run, the biggest half marathon in the world; or Corporate Social Responsibility at our Newcastle Business School, named Business School of the Year by Times Higher Education in 2015.
Our Summer School also includes field trips in all modules and an exciting social programme to help you learn about the region whilst enjoying your summer and make friends from all over the world. Some the of the highlights of the Summer School include a Medieval Welcome Meal at Blackfriar's, the oldest restaurant in the region; a trip to Northumberland, the area with the most castles in the UK; and fun module trips that will enrich your academic experience and allow you to learn about local ways of living in our fantastic region.
I wish you the best in your stay with us and hope to see you again many more times in Newcastle. You are always welcome to come back.
