Northumbria Current Students - application process

Book an appointment with the Study Abroad team

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation the Study Abroad team are currently working from home, so no on-campus 121 sessions are available.

How to Apply

Any students wishing to study abroad in the academic year 2020/21 may apply in the second application round, which will be open from the 6th April to the 12th April 2020.  No further applications will be accepted after this date.

Once the process opens you will need to sign up to the application portal, following the link below.  Ensure that you follow each of the bullet points below to sign up to the portal:

  • Ensure that you are using Google Chrome or Firefox as your web browser - the portal and subsequent application form will not work correctly with Internet Explorer or Safari.
  • When signing up to the portal please ensure that you use your Northumbria University e-mail address.  Applications coming from external e-mail addresses (e.g. Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo) will be rejected and deleted without notification
  • Your Northumbria University e-mail address should have your full name format (e.g. joe.bloggs@northumbria.ac.uk), not your username (e.g. W12345678@northumbria.ac.uk).  Applications coming from NU usernames will also be rejected and deleted as they will not work with secondary processes in the system.
  • Ensure that you add the e-mail address noreply@nu.moveon4.com to your 'safe senders' list in your Northumbria Outlook mail settings BEFORE signing up to the portal so that you receive all notifcations from the application system.  Failure to add this address to the 'safe senders' list will result in all notification e-mails going into your junk mail folder.

Once you have followed all 4 bullet points above, you can register on the application portal.

If you have already applied via the portal during the previous academic year, please use the same login details.  If you have forgotten your password please follow the 'Forgot password' link on the login page.

Please be aware that the first application round has already concluded and places have been allocated, so there will be a restricted number of places available.  Check the alternate Publisher to see which places are still available - click here

Please note that places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and that availability may change during the application week. 

 

Form Return While Abroad & Erasmus+ Grant Application

During your semester/year abroad there are various administrative tasks that need to be undertaken to ensure that the mobility period runs as smoothly as possible. We have combined all of these forms into one easy-to-complete online form which you can access from the Study/Work Abroad portal, linked below. You will also use this online form to apply for your Erasmus+ grant if you are studying/working in the EU.

Remember that all forms for both study and work placement need to be submitted within 5 days of arrival at your host University/Placement Provider - if you foresee problems meeting this deadline please contact the Team to let us know.

Please ensure that you open the portal using either Chrome or Firefox, as the forms will not work in Internet Explorer and some versions of Safari.

If you are on study exchange you will already have a username and password for the portal from when you applied for your study location. If you have forgotten your password please use the ‘Forgot your password' link in the bottom left hand corner of the login screen.  Please do not register again as a new user, as the forms need to be linked to your previous application.

If you are on work placement you will need to register with the portal using the Registration boxes on the right hand side of the login screen.
