Cultural Management offers a suite of specialist MAs with a framework of cultural sector management. These are: MA Cultural Management, MA Event & Conference Management, MA Music Management & Promotion and MA Museum & Heritage Management.

We provide all MAs as Campus-based or on-line (Flexible Learning) programmes. We work with approx 120 Post Graduate students per year. The student body is made up of UK, European and International students, which creates an excellent professional network. We have placement links with over 300 cultural organisations and practitioners in the North East of England. We also collaborate with other subjects in the Department including Visual Arts & Performing Arts and offer specialist Short Courses in all of the MA subject areas. We are actively engaged in research from action research to high end academic activity and we have a lead role in the current Cultural & Creative Industries Centre of Excellence programme.

Our teaching team is committed to encouraging academic excellence, practical work-based examples and tasks, applying theory to practice and encouraging entrepreneurial skills. Our graduates to emerge as highly specialised professionals with a good grounding in core, transferable skills across the breadth of the cultural sector.

We have graduates working in a range of cultural organisations and activities on a regional, national and international basis. Positions include: Education Officer at Arts Council England North East, Marketing & Events manager at Alnwick Gardens, Marketing Manager at Kitchenware Records, Funding Officer at Tyneside Cinema, Cultural Entrepreneurs including a jewellery maker, a Textile Designer, a Design Company in Beijing and a Gallery Owner in Greece.
