Thanks to the hands-on nature of this Applied Chemistry course you will gain practical experience that will not only develop your knowledge, but also equip you with a range of professional, transferrable and research skills enabling you to be ready for work or full-time PhD research on graduation.

Applied Chemistry is delivered via a range of lectures, seminars, tutorials and IT sessions, complemented by practical and laboratory classes.

An optional salaried placement year means that you can enhance these transferrable skills even further within industry.

Our research-active staff are on hand to offer guidance, operating an open-door policy to ensure you receive the support you need.

The final year of the Applied Chemistry course is research-focused and includes a laboratory based research project.

The opportunity to transfer onto level seven (final year) of the Applied Chemistry MChem programme is available.

Upon graduation you will be confident in your chosen career path.

Past students have worked in a range of roles within the chemical and pharmaceutical industries although many choose to continue academic study to PhD level.
