Architectural technology is at the forefront of the thriving global design and construction market and there is a growing demand for graduates. The technologist is the essential bridge between the architect’s concept and the delivery of a physical project. As the instrumental player in a multi-disciplinary team, the architectural technologist is the key to resolving design issues and ensuring optimum performance and efficiency.

Northumbria’s newly redeveloped Architectural Technology degree is at the cutting edge of new and emerging technologies and current industry demands, while still being founded on the fundamental principles that enable quality projects to be delivered on time and within budget.

You will gain the knowledge and skills to become an architectural technologist by using the latest collaborative principles, including Building Information Modelling (BIM), while benefiting from industry-informed teaching delivered through our innovative BIM Academy.

Giving you the opportunity to undertake a placement in year three to give you valuable experience of working in industry, this is one of the most hands-on architectural technology courses available. There are excellent career opportunities in a wide range of global industries including architecture, construction and design, with 90% of graduates in a professional or managerial job after six months. (Unistats 2014).

CIAT and CIOBAccreditation

Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) for the purpose of exemptions from parts of the professional qualification when progressing to Chartered status.

Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), having been judged to meet the CIOB Education Framework. Prospective members holding these qualifications have full academic exemption and may enter CIOB membership without the requirement for an Individual Assessment. A BSc Architectural Technology degree at Northumbria is the first step on a memorable career ladder.
