SM9637 - Business Failure

Module abstract

Becoming a successful entrepreneur, launching and growing businesses usually involves significant experimentation. This means many business ideas would disappoint, come to nothing, or fail, with only a few turning into commercial winners. Understanding business failure, stigma which comes with it, and knowing how to communicate and deal with it, is an essential skill of any entrepreneur. In highly volatile and unpredictable world of today, where business closure occurs not only as part of experimentation, but also as a result of unexpected global events, understanding business failure and responsible closure is rapidly becoming a rather important and valuable skill.

This module will help you understand business failure through innovative research-led content, case studies and by hearing from experienced entrepreneurs. You will gain skills and tools to spot the early signs of failure, to understand your legal, social and moral responsibilities as business owner, and to learn how to powerfully reflect on lessons for the future.
