What will I learn on this module?
This is the second module on the Student Enterprise pathway. The focus of this module is to support you in growing your venture. To do this we will introduce you to venture growth topics, focusing on business reporting and planning. You will then apply these topics to your own venture to further develop your learning.

How will I learn on this module?
You will learn through lectures and workshops which are in the form of action learning sets and through your own experience of growing your venture. The lectures will provide you with an introduction to the theoretical topics which will enable you to grow your venture and develop your entrepreneurial effectiveness. The action learning sets are small group workshops which will allow you and your peers to work through the challenges and complexities of running a venture and becoming an entrepreneur. These action learning sets allow you to use your venture to decide which are the most relevant topics for you and will allow you to practise these topics which will develop your learning further.
How will I be supported academically on this module?
Support will be provided to you by a member of academic staff leading the module with subject specialists contributing to the topics.
Support will include you being assigned a facilitator who is an academic member of staff with expertise in business start-up. This facilitator will be assigned to you throughout the whole time on the Student Enterprise pathway and will provide you with summative feedback throughout your time on the module.
The module is supported by a Teaching and Learning Plan which outlines the weekly sessions as well as providing guidance on the tutor-guided independent learning and suggestions for the student independent learning. The eLp will be used as a resource for lecture and seminar materials as well as serving as a communication hub for relevant course information, assessment submission and discussion boards.
You will be provided with a specialist electronic reading list that comprises of various materials including reports, book chapters and journal article that showcases the application of a variety of subject materials.

What will I be expected to achieve?
Knowledge & Understanding:
• You will be able to demonstrate a systematic understanding of key aspects related to venture growth. (MLO 1)
Intellectual / Professional skills & abilities:
• Deploy accurately established techniques of business analysis and apply these to your own venture. (MLO 2)
• Use a range of decision-making techniques to in complex and unpredictable contexts. (MLO 3)
Personal Values Attributes (Global / Cultural awareness, Ethics, Curiosity) (PVA):
• Demonstrate the ability to manage your own learning, as well as supporting the learning of others by exercising initiative and demonstrating personal responsibility. (MLO 4)
How will I be assessed?
Formative assessment (MLO1,2,3,4)
You will be required to run your own action learning group session either individually or in a small group.
You will be required to report on your business activity.
You will receive feedback on the above through your action learning sets.
Summative assessment (MLO1,2,3,4)
You will be assessed via a 3000 word individual portfolio worth 100% of the module.
This portfolio will be a business report or planning document that supports the growth of your business.
As part of this portfolio you will be required to reflect on your entrepreneurial effectiveness.

Module abstract
We’ve designed Student Enterprise: Growing your Venture to enable to you to expand your enterprise and continue to use it to practically
apply your entrepreneurial learning. The module focuses on how engaging with business planning, reporting and forecasting can provide
opportunities for you to develop your own entrepreneurial effectiveness, as well growing your business.
Through the action learning set you and your peers will work together on the challenges and complexities of growing a venture and becoming
an entrepreneur. This method of learning allows you to direct and tailor your learning to enable a more transformative experience for which
you’ll receive specialist support from academic staff with a background in business start-ups.
The second module of Pathway 2 on the BA Entrepreneurship course, Student Enterprise: Growing your Venture will enable you to become
more effective in your entrepreneurial career.
