Building surveyors are involved in the life cycle of a development spanning design, construction and future maintenance. They provide advice and professional services for both new build developments and the refurbishment and conversion of older buildings. Building surveyors are experts in building pathology, the identification and diagnosis of building defects and play a major part in the preservation and conservation of historical buildings.

On this professional course you will study the core competencies required to become a Chartered Surveyor and work with real clients on live projects through our innovative Building Advice Centre.

Northumbria is a pioneer in Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology, which is embedded throughout this course. This will ensure you are at the cutting edge of this emerging field.

This course includes an optional one-year industrial placement that will count towards the professional practice that you need to become a fully chartered surveyor.


Accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) for the purpose of graduate membership.
