Graduate Certificate in Business is designed to build your knowledge and skills to bridge the gap between your current qualifications and masters level study. Upon successfully completing the course and subject to specific requirements, you will be able to join one of our range of Masters programmes with a detailed understanding of how business works.

What will I study?

The Graduate Certificate in Business consists of two modules that will prepare you for the transition into our Masters programmes. These modules are designed to build your skills, knowledge and the confidence needed to study successfully at a postgraduate level.

You can expect to participate in highly interactive lectures and seminars to help you understand how to apply the theory into practice and we use a range of materials and case studies to support your learning throughout the course.

How will I be taught and assessed?

  • Teaching is delivered through lectures, seminars and workshops totalling 10 hours per week
  • You’re expected to engage in independent study, around 33 hours per week
  • Assessments take place through a mix of assignments, exams and a presentation.
  • Taught by experienced lecturers and academics who use their industry experience to demonstrate how theories translate into real-life situations.
  • Technology-enhanced learning is embedded throughout the course to guide your preparation for seminars and independent research
  • Benefit from weekly academic support sessions designed to build your ability and confidence as an academic learner

  • A pass degree, this may also be known as an ordinary degree. If you have studied in the UK, this will be a third-class degree.

  • IELTS 6.0 with no single element below 5.5, or equivalent.

All modules are core 20 credits unless otherwise stated.

This module covers areas such as enhancing academic writing skills, learning styles, working in teams, developing critical thinking skills, understanding research and how to make effective use out of journal articles.

All of these areas are considered in the specific context of business and management to allow you to enhance your knowledge in this area, develop your vocabulary and understand how to apply theory to practice.

Students will be introduced to the complexities of the business environment and the various approaches to strategic management that can be used by firms to compete and survive in an international and dynamic environment.

This module covers a wide range of areas including; the strategic position of the organisation, evaluating financial data and organisational reports, critically analysing business models, logistics, leadership, business ethics, marketing, managing strategic change and evaluating organisational performance.

The modules you will study do not require you to purchase additional textbooks.

How to apply

Once you’re ready to apply, you can apply online to study the Graduate Certificate. This method allows you to upload your supporting documents at the time of application and automatically receive your student application number. Please note: when applying to study on the Graduate Certificate you will need to indicate which course you intend to progress on to once you have completed the programme.
