Crime and Criminal Justice are topics high on political agendas across the globe. Issues relating to crime, criminals, victimisation, crime management and community safety in society are causes for concern, fear, controversy and intense debates.

This postgraduate Criminology degree is a dynamic course tailored to those issues and offers a flexible mode of study. Engaging in a challenging and rewarding learning experience, you will be taught by internationally renowned experts within the discipline. The department has close links with industry, including the Prison Service, law enforcement agencies and the voluntary sector, and these close networks will further enhance your learning experience throughout the entire Criminology degree programme.

During this Criminology course, you will be encouraged to develop a critical understanding of the key themes, issues and political debates concerning crime, crime control and criminal and social justice in the UK, and globally. You will be assessed in presentations, essays and a research project where 60% of your time will be spent self-learning. There is a wide variety of dissertation topics to choose from, because of the wide breadth of expertise within the discipline of criminology.

This MA Criminology and Criminal Justice degree programme will appeal to those seeking to enter the criminal justice or community justice sectors, drug action teams and the voluntary and charitable sector, as well as those with experience of employment in these areas.
