If you have an enthusiasm for English and a passion for reading and writing, this is the course for you. It covers a wide variety of language disciplines, including structural, sociolinguistic and historical dimensions.

You will also engage with the major periods of English literature and the principal forms of literary criticism.

You will study core modules in linguistic theory and English literature from the Renaissance to the present day. Our extensive selection of options and the choice of either a literature or language-based dissertation allows you to tailor your degree to your true interests and career aspirations.
