About this course 2015/16

Health Psychology is the application of psychological theories, research and methodologies to the study of health and disease and covers topics ranging from the biological determinants of health through to the delivery of healthcare to society.

Our Health Psychology Masters' degree is delivered by an expert team of world-leading researchers and practitioners and is based on contemporary research to ensure that you are at the cutting edge of the discipline. We offer first-hand experiences that are not available on other courses of this kind and support you as you develop your own areas of expertise. Our ecologically valid sleep centre, stress laboratory, and practical sessions involving measuring your own stress hormones are just some of the unique aspects of the programme at Northumbria.

This postgraduate Health Psychology degree programme also uses innovative methods to assess your knowledge whilst providing you with the skills you need in your future career. These include ethics and funding applications, peer feedback, media releases and reports for non-academic audiences as well as developing your research skills.

The course provides the knowledge, practitioner skills and research techniques that will prepare you for a career in Health Psychology. It is an accredited Stage 1 practitioner training route towards registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Health Psychologist.

Our blend of research-led teaching and practical experiences will challenge and excite you.

This MSc in Health Psychology is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and provides the first stage of practitioner training necessary for subsequent registration with the Health & Care professions Council (HCPC) as a Health Psychologist.
