Do you want to learn about the past to gain a better understanding of the present? If you share our passion for the past and fascination with political thought, institutions and systems of government, History and Politics at Northumbria is for you.

You will cover a range of topics from international politics to the history of political ideas, allowing you to develop a refined awareness of history and politics.

Our modules are strongly informed by staff research interests and expertise, and are designed to engage students with the latest research carried out in the disciplines, such as activism, US history and global connections. You will also benefit from tailor-made modules that we have designed specifically for this course.

If you have a desire to study abroad, there are opportunities to visit the USA or Europe. If you choose to stay in the UK, you will get the opportunity to undertake a work placement which will allow you to apply your skills in a professional setting.
