Fendor

Introduction:

Fendor are pioneers in commercial and specialist glazing. The MDI cohort were involved in a project to identify the [possibilities of diversification for Fendor keeping in line their current product range and manufacturing capabilities. The question was simple — what are the futures for Fendor and its product range?

The Design Opportunity:

The opportunity was in promoting Fendor’s brand values, identifying new product pathways and the identify opportunities to build relationships between Fendor and other influential organisations/agencies helping in the communication of crucial information surrounding legislation and standards.

How can a multidisciplinary group innovate in a highly specialised field and demonstrate their strategy to Fendor in doing this?

The Project:

The research was split into several territories including: standards and legislation, building conservation, new builds, foreign know how, competitors and influential bodies/agencies/organisations. In order to grasp an understanding of these topics, in terms of potential opportunities and threats, smaller teams conducted in-depth research around these topics and presented their findings back to the group in digestible formats. A collective understanding was gained, new ideas were proposed, which provided pathways to innovation. Each group copyedited their research section along with their insights and concepts into a concise report. This document was translated into a visual presentation and delivered to the CEO of Fendor.

The Result:

The work produced for Fendor not only informed them of pathways to innovation, but also helped forge relationships with influential bodies - crucial to the development of innovative product lines.
