Please note that the last intake to the first year of this course was in the academic year beginning in September 2015. The course has since been revalidated, and if you are interested in starting the first year in 2016/17 or later please follow this link to the latest version.

Our Nursing Science BSc (Hons) course aims to enable students to link their nursing practice experience with wider debates in health care provision. The course is for students who already hold, or who are working towards, nurse registration in their own country. Clinical practice forms the central focus of the curriculum with the goal of enhancing the student’s own capacity and potential for developing knowledge, for and from practice.
Subjects studied include:
- Methods of Enquiry into Professional practice
- Integrating Interpersonal Skills and Health Promotion
- Social, Political and Professional Issues
- Analysing Knowledge for Practice
- Clinical Life Sciences
Placement
We take your placement profile very seriously and all students are provided with practice learning experiences based on Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council requirements.

Facilities
When you want to get hands-on experience within Public Health and Wellbeing we can support you. The Clinical Skills Centre, which has been established for 10 years, is the result of our continued commitment to create an interactive environment in which health related students can be equipped with a diverse range of skills.

Courses starting in 2021 are offered as a mix of online and face to face teaching due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
We continue to monitor government and local authority guidance in relation to Covid-19 and we are ready and able to flex accordingly to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.
Students will be required to attend campus as far as restrictions allow. Contact time will increase as restrictions ease, or decrease, potentially to a full online offer, should restrictions increase.
Our online activity will be delivered through Blackboard Ultra, enabling collaboration, connection and engagement with materials and people.
