We recognise this growing industry and welcome students who have a passion for the uses of chemistry in modern society in the development, production and analysis of bio- active compounds.

Accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)* this Pharmaceutical Chemistry degree course concentrates on aspects related to human biology including biochemistry, pharmacognosy, medicine, design and synthesis of drugs including computer-aided molecular modelling.

This Pharmaceutical Chemistry course is delivered via a range of lectures, seminars, tutorials and IT sessions, complemented by practical and laboratory classes. An optional salaried placement year means you can enhance these skills even further within industry with our research-active staff on hand to offer guidance.

Upon graduation you will have a range of transferable skills and a pharmaceutical knowledge that is evidence-based, allowing you to be confident in your chosen career path. Past students have taken up a number of job opportunities within the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The opportunity to transfer onto level 7 of the MChem programme is available, subject to satisfactory completion of level 6. The BSc Pharmaceutical Chemistry degree also provides a route into continued academic study to MSc or PhD level.

*as suitable for admission to Associate Membership of the Society, for holders of first- or second-class honours degrees. It satisfies the academic (though not professional) requirements for the award of CChem from the RSC.
