GIFT (Gateshead International Festival of Theatre)

GIFT celebrates new theatre from around the world and offers a unique festival experience.

GIFT was founded in 2011 by Festival Director, and previous MA Theatre and Performance course leader, Kate Craddock. Over the last five years, GIFT has firmly established itself as an annual event in the cultural calendar of Gateshead and the North East, celebrating new theatre from around the world and offering a unique festival experience. GIFT develops artists and audiences in the North East by programming performances that otherwise would not be seen in the region, and by providing opportunities and spaces for dialogue and exchange. GIFTed is the strand of GIFT which celebrates new theatre created by students and recent graduates from across the UK and Europe, providing participants with a showcase and workshop opportunities.

Bringing together new theatre makers from around the world GIFT is an explosive few days of performances, workshops and discussions that provides a great platform for Northumbria Performing Arts students to network, showcase work and fully immerse themselves into the cultural community.
