Selection Process

  • There is a competitive selection process for this scholarship scheme. Applicants need to apply via online written application; a selection panel will consider all eligible applications.
  • Applications will be considered on the strength of response to, in no more than 1000 characters: how will being awarded a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship prepare you for the challenges of a constantly changing world?
  • If you are currently studying for your degree, you do not need to wait for your final classification before applying.
  • If successful, the award of the scholarship will be made conditional upon you achieving the required degree classification before commencement of the course.
  • Successful applicants will be notified once the evaluation panel has met, by 8 August 2020.

Important Information 

  • Students selected for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for September 2020 will no longer be eligible for any other Postgraduate discounts
  • Sponsored students are not eligible for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for September 2020
  • Students are still able to apply, and may be eligible for the Government Loan and other sources of finance to support PGT study. For more detail visit www.northumbria.ac.uk/pgfinance
  • The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for September 2020 is awarded as a £2,750 fee discount and is not a cash sum
  • Successful students will receive a £2,750 tuition fee discount on full-time eligible courses studied at Newcastle City and Coach Lane Campus only
  • The reduction to fees will be made following enrolment
  • Funding is provided in the first year of study, if your course is longer than one year
  • If you defer your place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn
  • Northumbria University reserves the right to withdraw this scheme at any point
  • The University’s decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal

Terms and conditions

To be eligible for the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a Home or EU student
  • apply for an eligible Masters course
  • meet the conditions of your offer, and accept an offer to study on a full-time taught Masters course at Newcastle City Campus or Coach Lane in September 2020
  • be a self-funded student
  • not have fees which are paid in full or in part through a sponsorship arrangement, i.e. employer funded
  • Have applied for an eligible Masters course (courses listed above).
