This information is for UK, EU member state and Home students applying to study at Northumbria University in September 2018.

This remarkable opportunity will reward 100 exceptional students a £2,750 discount towards the fees on one of over 50 full-time Masters courses beginning in September 2018.

2018 Terms & Conditions

To be eligible to apply for the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a UK, Home or EU member state applicant who has achieved a first-class or 2:2 honours degree or equivalent, from any UK higher education institution or EU higher education institution.
  • Apply for an eligible Masters course (see which courses apply below) beginning in September 2018, and be in receipt of an offer from Northumbria University.
  • Meet the conditions of your offer, and accept an offer to study at Northumbria University on an eligible full-time taught Masters course.

2018 Eligible Courses

 

Important Information

  • Students selected for a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship will not be eligible for Alumni discount.
  • Students selected for a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship will not be eligible for Early Bird discount.
  • Students can apply for both the Dean's Award for the LPC or LLM and the Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship, however only one award will be made.
  • The Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship is awarded as a fee waiver and is not a cash sum.
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on the scholarship application form - your course application form will not be considered.
  • Students will receive a £2,750 tuition fee discount on full-time eligible courses studied at City and Coach Lane Campus only.
  • The reduction to Masters fees will be made following enrolment.
  • If your course is longer than one year, the scholarship will be provided in the first year of study only.
  • If you defer your place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn.
  • Northumbria reserves the right to withdraw this scheme at any point.
  • The University's decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal.

Selection Process

  • There is a competitive selection process for this scholarship scheme. Applicants need to apply via online written application; a selection panel will consider all eligible applications.
  • Applications will be considered on the strength of response to, in no more than 250 words: how will being awarded a Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship prepare you for the challenges of a constantly changing world?
  • If you are currently studying for your degree, you do not need to wait for your final classification before applying.
  • If successful, the award of the scholarship will be made conditional upon you achieving the required degree classification before commencement of the course.
  • Successful applicants will be notified once the evaluation panel has met, by Friday 03 August 2018.

Definitions

Home

Normally, in order to be classed as a home student, you will need to have been living in the UK for a full three years for purposes other than education and have settled status. Further information can be found by referring to the UKCISA website.

Scholarship

A financial award given to eligible students who meet the academic threshold as determined by the scheme.

Self-funding

Students who are assuming full responsibility for the funding of their course.

 2017 Vice-Chancellor's Scholarship for UK & EU Applicants

This information is for UK & EU applicants applying to study at Northumbria in September 2017.

APPLICATIONS HAVE NOW CLOSED

Northumbria University has launched the latest Vice-Chancellor Scholarship Scheme now available to UK & EU students starting a Northumbria postgraduate taught course in September 2017.

If you are interested in studying a course in Business, Law, Computing, Health, Engineering, Environment, Project Management, Psychology, Sport, Science, Social Sciences or Humanities, you may be eligible to receive one of the scholarships available, on selected full-time on campus Masters courses starting in September 2017.

To apply please complete and submit a short application form by July 21st 2017. You must hold, and accept an offer for one of our selected full-time courses to be eligible for the scheme.

You may also be eligible for the 2017 Government’s Masters loan of up to £10,280 to support postgraduate study this September.

*This scholarship is available to UK & EU students only, who are studying on an eligible postgraduate taught course. Course eligibility can be found below.

September 2017 Terms, Conditions & Eligibility

All applications will be considered by a selection panel. Applications for the scheme close on July 21st, any applications submitted after this date will not be considered. Scholarships will only be awarded where an applicant has accepted their Masters offer.

2017 Terms & Conditions:

  • All students selected for a Vice-Chancellor's scholarship will no longer be eligible for other PG discounts (i.e. Alumni discount and Academic scholarships).
  • Students will receive up to a £2,750 discount on full-time on campus course tuition fees (excluding London campus courses). The reduction to the PGT fees will be made following enrollment.
  • Students are still able to apply, and may be eligible for the Government Loan and other sources of finance to support PGT study. Find out more here.
  • If awarded it is expected that the offer holder accepts the scholarship within 30 days from the date that the offer was issued.
  • Please be aware the University's decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of appeal.
  • Scholarships only apply to courses studied full-time on campus starting in September 2017 (excluding London campus courses). Funding is only provided in the first year of study, if the course duration is longer than one year
  • Scholarships do not apply to students studying programmes funded by the TDA and NHS or whose fees are paid or part-paid through a sponsorship arrangement i.e. employer funded and/or other charity funded scholarships

2017 Eligibilty:

  • You are a UK or EU applicant who has achieved a first-class or 2:1 honours degree or equivalent, from any UK higher education institution or EU higher education instituition. Click here for a list of EU equivalent qualifications.
  • You must apply for an eligible Masters course (see which courses apply here) and be in receipt of an offer from Northumbria University.
  • You must meet all the individual course entrance requirements.
  • You must not be studying programmes funded by the TDA or NHS, or have fees which are paid in full or in part through a sponsorship arrangement, i.e. employer funded and/or other charity funded scholarships. 

2017 Selection Process:

  • There is a competitive selection process for this scholarship scheme. Applicants need to apply via online written application; a selection panel will consider all eligible applications.
  • Applications will be considered on the strength of achievement and previous experience, future ambition and the response you provide to your course set question.
  • If you are currently studying for your degree you do not need to wait for your final classification before applying.
  • If successful, the award of the scholarship will be made conditional upon you achieving the required degree classification before commencement of the course.
  • Successful applicants will be notified once the panel of evaluators has met in August 2017.

Please note – your course application form will not be considered in conjunction with your application form for the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship
