Your Student Smartcard

Your Northumbria University Smartcard is:       

  • University ID card
  • Library card
  • Proof of student status to access the Stagecoach number 1 bus for free (Newcastle Campus)
  • Access to buildings card
  • Northumbria Students' Union membership card
  • Attendance monitoring card
  • Payment card for printing and photocopying

It will also be used to access sports facilities if a subscription is taken with Northumbria University Sport for either Coach Lane or Sport Central

The photo you uploaded as part of your enrolment will be the image that is printed onto your Smartcard. It is important that you collect your card at the earliest convenience as you will require it to gain access to many parts of the campus.

When you collect your smartcard you must bring with you an official form of photographic identification, we will only accept one of the following items:

  • Passport
  • Photographic Driving Licence
  • Proof of Age Standards Scheme (PASS) Card

Your photographic proof of identification must be valid and the expiry date must not have passed.


Collecting your Smartcard: Information for Northumbria Newcastle Students

You will be able to collect your smartcard from your Campus Library. Smartcards will be available for collection at  least 48 hours after you have completed enrolment and successfully uploaded a suitable photograph. New International students must got to Student Central complete your enrolment where you will be issued with your Smartcard

Collecting your Smartcard: Information for Northumbria London Students

All New London Campus students will collect their Smartcard from the Ask4Help desk on the ground floor of the Northumbria London Campus.

Collecting your Smartcard: Information for Northumbria Amsterdam Students

As part of our partnership with Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) you will have access to their campus buildings, library's and facilities so you will also be provided with an AUAS smart card alongside your Northumbria card. Your University smartcards are your access to buildings, learning resources and wider resources which require your university ID. You should never be without them! 

Your Smart Cards will be generated after you have completed your enrolment.

You will receive an email from one of the Ask4Help team when they are available and collect it from the first floor of Northumbria Amsterdam Campus.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Your Smartcard is non-transferable and may only be used by the person whose name and photograph appears on it. The card is valid for all campuses of Northumbria University and should be carried at all times.Cards that have been lost or stolen must be reported to an Ask4Help point, a £10 charge is applied if the card has been lost or damaged.  Any changes to a student’s first and /or surname will need to be verified by the Student Progress Team before a new Smartcard can be produced.
