Wellbeing and health support

We make sure that, as a student at Northumbria, you have access to up-to-date information about wellbeing and health issues.  We also ensure that you have somewhere to turn if life takes an unexpected twist and you find yourself needing advice or support with a tricky issue.

Our Welfare, Immigration and Funding Advisers offer all our students free, impartial, confidential and professional advice on a range of wellbeing and health issues, including:

  • Health issues – such as how to register with a local doctor and dentist, or health costs (eg  prescription charges)
  • Meningitis and other notifiable diseases
  • Your personal safety and wellbeing and how to keep healthy and safe and using the Safezone app
  • Insurance Issues
  • Getting Settled and Making Friends
  • Bullying and Harassment
  • Specific health and welfare information for international students – such as registering with the police
  • We can also help you to speak to other people or organisations about any issues that you are facing.  For example, during term-time, we have a police ‘drop-in’ service, if you would like an opportunity to speak to our police liaison officer.
