UCAS Clearing Advice for Teachers and Advisors

Help your students prepare for UCAS Clearing on results day 2019.

Results day can be stressful for both teachers and students. Here at Northumbria University, we want to help you prepare in the best way possible.

As a teacher, you’ll be an invaluable source of support for your students at this time and we are here to support you through this challenging period.

Whether your students have already received their results or are waiting for August, it’s never too early to think about what happens next.

We always recommend that students research courses that they might like to study if they were to enter Clearing and join Northumbria University.

The Clearing Hotline Team will be available to discuss opportunities at Northumbria University from 7am on results day and will talk through the different options available. Please remind students to have their UCAS ID and details of qualifications to hand before calling.

In the meantime if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact the Student Recruitment Team on 0191 349 5923 or the Clearing Hotline which is now open on 0800 085 1085.

Fast Track to Clearing

Students can now pre-register for Clearing ahead of results day.

In a new initiative, we are now offering a Clearing Fast Track service, where students interested in Northumbria University can pre-register for clearing, as long as they do not hold a firm or insurance offer from us already. This means that these students can be ‘fast-tracked’ through the call line once Clearing opens, without having to repeat their details.

To pre-register for Clearing, students should fill in the form below or call 0191 349 5923.

Dual and Alternative Offers

Students may receive a Dual Offer or an Alternative Offer for an integrated Foundation Year.

We will have made some students a Dual Offer at their initial point of application. This is an insurance option should students miss out on their grades, they will have an offer to study on one of our integrated Foundation Years.

Whilst on results day, students who did not already hold a Dual Offer may be made an Alternative Offer for an integrated Foundation Year if they have missed out on the grades for their original course.

Both a Dual Offer and an Alternative Offer are conditional of students meeting the entry requirements for the relevant Foundation Year. If a student receives either a Dual Offer or an Alternative Offer, all they need to do is login to UCAS Track and accept the offer within 5 days.

Our video with Assistant Marketing Director, Helen Bower, explains the full process and the benefits of studying a Foundation Year. Students can learn more about their offer, and the Foundation Years we offer in Clearing, on our Clearing Foundation Year page.
