A secondment opportunity, from now until June 2023, has arisen to contribute towards the discovery and access of our Library collection to ensure students and researchers can access the scholarly knowledge that meets their needs.

The University Library plays a key role in learning and research at Northumbria developing and delivering a wide range of services aligned to the University's Corporate Strategy. We continue to achieve high levels of student satisfaction and have achieved joint first position as highest scoring academic library in the Times Higher Education student experience survey. We have also held the Cabinet Office accreditation for Customer Service Excellence since 2010.

As Discovery and Access Assistant you will contribute to the provision of specialist support to deliver one of the University Library’s major service areas, enabling the discovery and access of scholarly knowledge for learning, teaching and research. This includes providing assistance and guidance to colleagues and customers, a commitment to providing excellent customer service and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Reporting to the Discovery and Access Coordinators, you will work with a next generation library management system and other discovery services, to meet the learning, teaching and research needs of the University. This includes investigating and resolving complex queries, liaising with customers and suppliers and working as an effective team member.

This secondment post is full-time but options to work part time hours will be considered. Please note that this post is temporary until 16th June 2022.
