Information Rights Coordinator

We are looking for a highly capable information governance professionalism, with some experience in records management, Data Protection, and managing responses to Freedom of information requests. The role will help the service ensure the University meets its statutory obligations with regard to information requests. The role represents an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing and implementing effective information governance and records management across the organisation.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Deliver excellent customer service and provide a welcoming, efficient, helpful and informative service to all customers
• Use and help to develop the service knowledge base to answer and refer stakeholder enquires in a timely, accurate and consistent way
• Escalate any complex queries / cases to relevant colleagues in the Legal Services Team
• Work co-operatively and maintain effective relationships with others, internally and externally to the University, as appropriate to own area of responsibility.
• Demonstrate a flexible attitude to change which will support the University in meeting existing and future needs.
• Identify new opportunities for information governance improvements throughout the University.
• On occasion the post-holder may be reasonably requested to carry out duties not specifically described in this job description. Such requests will be in the interests of maintaining the smooth running and delivery of services to customers and stakeholders.
• Participation in operational meetings and advising on the impact of regulations on institutions.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the University Records and Information Manager in delivering ongoing compliance with current Information rights legislation.
• Provide a professional and comprehensive advisory service, including coordinating responses to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI) and Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR) under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
• Maintain the University FOI and DSAR request Log
• Contribute to the provision of a professional administration service within the Legal Services Team
• Contribute to the development of a collaborative, collegiate and inclusive culture, sharing information and good practice with others.
• Undertake searches and research tasks as required.
• Work co-operatively and maintain effective relationships with others, internally and externally to the University, as appropriate to own area of responsibility. 
• Develop and maintain a good working knowledge of own area of responsibility.
• Demonstrate a flexible attitude to change to support the Legal Services Team to meet existing and future needs.
• Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with both internal and external partners. Deliver tasks within required timescales to agreed service standards
