Equality and Diversity Practitioner

Student and Library Services

As a senior member of a professional support team – with expertise in the specific areas of Equality and Diversity as they relate to students – you will provide specialist advice and support to students, staff and other stakeholders in relation to these areas including responding to enquiries about Equality and Diversity as they relate  to students.  The role will involve acting as the lead practitioner for the University’s Equality and Diversity work as it relates to students; reviewing, updating and addressing any gaps in the University’s suite of Equality and Diversity policies and procedures which relate to students, including drafting, consulting and seeking agreement for effective new and updated policies and procedures. This will also involve working closely with the HR Manager who leads on Equality and Diversity issues as they relate to staff in order to jointly deliver Equality and Diversity work which relates to both staff and students.

You will need comprehensive knowledge and understanding of: equality and diversity issues and anti-discrimination legislation including an understanding of how these relate to higher education, underpin the student experience and impact on student satisfaction levels; how organisations use policies and procedures to enhance the student experience and the management of risk in relation to equality and diversity issues and the higher education sector and specific understanding of current student equality and diversity issues within a changing external environment. You will need the ability to deliver high-quality, specialist advice and guidance to students, staff and other stakeholders on a one-to-one and/or group basis in a friendly and professional manner, and always to the highest professional standards.
