Career wellbeing encompasses various aspects of your career, including job satisfaction, work-life balance, professional development, and the alignment of personal values within our work. Career wellbeing contributes to overall wellbeing and a person's sense of fulfilment and happiness in their chosen profession.

There are lots of steps individuals can take to promote their career wellbeing:

Develop Your Self-Awareness
Be aware of your strengths, reflect on what is important to you, and what you want and need to get out of your career. What are your core values? Seek out opportunities that meet your needs.

Productivity
Explore what it is you need to be productive and when. Task management and achievement works well when we understand what helps us perform at our best.

Resilience
Your ability to bounce back from setbacks. Stressful situations can test our levels of resilience but can help build them too which helps deal with future stresses. Having a positive mindset, building confidence, and asking for help when you need support can help build resilience.

Career Development
Create a long-term career plan with clear milestones and objectives. Regularly assess your progress and adjust your plan as needed. It’s okay to change and adapt your plan as you go. Embracing change and adapting to new challenges and opportunities will help develop a growth mind set.

Continuous Learning
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to remain competitive in your field. Seek out skills development and opportunities for training and education.

Network Support
Cultivate positive relationships with colleagues, mentors, and industry peers including your alumni community. Ask for feedback and advice from experienced professionals to gain deeper insights, learn and share best practice.

Work-Life Balance
Establish clear boundaries between work and personal life. Take time for self-care activities, hobbies and activities that bring you joy. Set boundaries so you are not overloaded with work and communicate to colleagues, so they understand your work limits.

Love What You Do
Find meaning in your daily tasks and understand the impact of your contributions. Understand the positive impact your work contributes to the larger goals of your organisation or society.
