CHASE: Centre for Health and Social Equity

The Centre for Health & Social Equity (CHASE) at Northumbria University is not just another research centre.

It is the university-wide organisational heart that drives Northumbria University’s commitment to social justice in the North-East. Our vast team of solution-focussed influencers are working hard to address marginalisation and disadvantage in the North-East.

We serve those who share our vision of the North-East as a fair society that seeks a good life for everyone who lives here – a healthy, prosperous, and caring society that leaves no-one behind. With our business, government, and charitable partners CHASE seeks to identify the gaps in fairness and support and addresses these challenges with the resources befitting a large research-intensive university.

CHASE is the support hub for health and social justice research for our engineers, nurses, doctors, policy influencers, business academics, public health practitioners, social work researchers and more.

  • CHASE brokers new contracts from business, industry, and public services for research, workforce development, and community development.
  • CHASE provides needed support to our researchers to do this vital work.
  • And CHASE showcases the outcomes of this work in its publicity and marketing.

CHASE supports all NHS trusts, local authorities, business and industry, and NGOs / third sector organisations to enhance the health and wellbeing of their clients and co-workers and to move their organisations towards greater equity, resilience, and fulfilment. We work with all public and private organisations to address and develop their internal and external research requirements, their workforce development and CPD needs, and their policy and practice visions for the future. Drawing from a vast, internationally experienced, and diverse expert workforce from across Northumbria University we can help strengthen and enhance your success and effectiveness across the North-east and beyond.
