Who Is.. Nkumbu Mutambo

Nkumbu Mutambo, Research Assistant

I’m a researcher and designer interested in the role of art and design in society. I’m currently completing my PhD at Northumbria University interrogating the meaning and role of heritage in Zambian fashion design. Having trained and worked as a creative practitioner, I’m interested in exploring the intersection of history, identity and design through a diverse range of approaches. Finally, I aim to engage in research and creative practice which centres on the voices of people and groups that have been marginalised. As part of the Creative Fuse team, I’m supporting the delivery of internships within the creative and cultural industry in the Northeast of England. Moreover, I’m involved I developing and disseminating research and practice outputs that are aimed at understanding and communicating the impact of such internships on the growth and development of the creative and cultural sector.
