Research Support

The Library offers support and services for research sharing, including support with publishing, data sharing, managing your research profile and evaluating research impact and influence.

If you need help getting started with publishing, we can advise on assessing journal quality, and choosing a publication venue.

We can support you with Open Access and options for sharing your work. Including using PURE, applications to access institutional funds and using publisher agreements for Open Access. For students with research funding we can help you to meet the Open Access publishing requirements of your funder.

If you are looking to create and manage your research profile, we can help you to register for an ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) and use it to manage your scholarly identity. We also provide guidance on managing and sharing your research data, and can help if you need to write a Data Management Plan.

The Library can help you to evaluate research, we provide help to use bibliographic databases such as Scopus and Web of Science and specialist tools such as Overton, for policy tracking. using publication and citation data to measure research volume, impact, and influence.

We can also help you to keep up to date with best practice in research sharing. Find details of one-off events with specialists in open research through our open research events calendar.

Research Skills

The Library offers a range of support for researchers to develop their skills including personalised one-to-ones to and specialist monthly researcher drop ins. The Library’s Researcher Development Programme also offers taught sessions designed to support the development of core knowledges and transferable skills, as identified in Vitae’s Researcher Development Framework (RDF).

Our provision sits alongside the Professional Development and Researcher Training Programme offered by the Graduate School and the support provided by Research and Innovation Services through their Early Career Research Hub.
