At Northumbria Engineering, Physics and Mathematics are co-located in one ambitious, future-facing school. Our school is built on collaboration, because tackling the world’s biggest challenges – like climate change, clean energy, and space exploration – means working across boundaries.

RESEARCH WITH IMPACT

Here, you’ll learn from leading researchers and work alongside students from different disciplines, developing creative, practical solutions to global problems and exploiting opportunities for truly interdisciplinary learning and discovery.

We do world-leading research which is strongly connected to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, exploring areas such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, resilient infrastructure, energy systems and materials, and Space. With eleven active research groups we have the breadth and depth to make a real difference.

AN INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY

Our teaching is inclusive and hands-on. Our industrial advisory boards help shape our curriculum and we support students from all backgrounds, nationalities and abilities to succeed. We won’t throw you in the deep end – we’ll give you the confidence, tools and space to grow, from problem-based sessions and interactive labs to skills in teamwork, communication and ethical leadership.

We’re more than a school. We’re a community that values ethical leadership, diversity, and opportunity. Our students come from all backgrounds with differing levels of experience, and we support them every step of the way – building confidence, nurturing talent, and helping them find their place in the world of engineering, physics and mathematics.

REAL-WORLD EXPERIENCE

We don’t just talk about real-world experience. It’s at the heart of everything we do. From day one, you’ll apply your learning through live industry projects, placements, team challenges and research-led teaching.

READY FOR THE FUTURE

Our graduates leave with technical know-how, a collaborative mindset, and experience that employers value. Many of our courses are professionally accredited, and our strong links with major companies like Akzo Nobel, Siemens, Balfour Beatty, Caterpillar, Nissan, Gatwick Airport and Northumbrian Water mean you’ll graduate ready for whatever comes next.

ACCREDITATIONS

We’ve built strong relationships with a number of professional and regulatory bodies who accredit many of our courses. This helps keep our course content current and in line with industry standards.

This is a school where physics meets purpose. Where mathematics drives innovation. And where engineering helps shape a better world.
