A library for Learning
Our professional staff, scholarly collections, and learning spaces, form a vital part of the student learning experience at Northumbria.
Third highest scoring university library in the UK in the Times Higher Student Experience Survey for the last three years running (2012, 2013, and 2014), and awarded the UK Government Customer Service Excellence (CSE) accreditation since 2010, the University Library ensures students receive the right support they need from enrolment to graduation.
At the heart of each Northumbria campus, our libraries provide a range of study space and IT to suit every learning style. City Campus Library is open and staffed 24/7 in term time, and Coach Lane Library and Law Practice Library offer generous opening hours.
Our extensive library collection encompasses both print and online resources, including over half a million print books and half a million electronic books available online so our students can access them whenever or wherever they need. Fifty thousand electronic journals and over a hundred databases provide further crucial resource for independent learning and project work.
Northumbria's library team ensure students have opportunities throughout their course to develop information and digital literacy through our popular Northumbria Skills Programme and our online multimedia ‘SkillsPlus’.
