The results of the 2014 Research Excellence Framework demonstrate that Northumbria has made a major step forward & has nearly tripled its share of research rated world-leading & internationally excellent. We recorded the third largest increase in research power market share, after more than doubling our submission volume. And Times Higher Education reported our improvement in research power rank, climbing from 80th to 50th, was the biggest in the country.
We have a track record of creating successful, multidisciplinary partnerships that combine the very best of academic and professional knowledge.
Examples include work in cold and paleo environments that forms part of a £6.6 million partnership involving the British Antarctic Survey and the National Oceanography Centre; the BxNU BALTIC partnership as a showcase for art that fundamentally challenges public understandings of clinical medicine and science and a range of high profile international collaborations that seek to build environmental, societal and personal resilience.
