Northumbria is a global, outward looking university, research-rich, business-focussed and professional in outlook.
We are proud that since our foundation we have grown our links around the world connecting our students, academics and research with partners, business organisations and other Higher Education institutions across the globe. We have over 190,000 alumni, from 167 countries.
Northumbria’s current student body numbers 34,000: 131 countries are represented, nearly 70% of all countries recognised by the United Nation. We are global in every sense of the word.
Many come to our campuses here in Newcastle, enriching a city that is renowned across the globe as a culturally vibrant, friendly and safe place to study, work and live.
Our academic staff, many of whom are leaders in their fields, are repeatedly recognised for their outstanding work. The University’s focus on research excellence has helped us to engage with, and to recruit, some of the most talented scholars across the globe - inspiring students, developing research, thinking across borders and finding solutions to global issues.
This international focus which sits at the heart of Northumbria is pivotal for this University. That is why we were one of the few UK universities which supported the UK remaining within the European Union. We are located in one of the few UK cities which voted to remain in Europe.
The UK’s higher education system remains one of the most successful in the world, and, like this University, it remains very much open for business globally.
We continue with our strong commitment to internationalism, including our valuable and long-standing links with Europe, whose residents among our staff and students are as welcome now as they have always been. Northumbria's global community of staff and students are committed to welcoming all those who can contribute towards our vision and outward focus.
