Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt
Are you dealing with a lot of waste due to inefficiencies in business processes within your organisation? Are you dealing with some complex operational problems and issues without knowing the root causes of them and the solution? Are you tasked with improving your cost efficiency, customer satisfaction and organisational performance?
This two-day Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt course, designed for shop floor personnel to middle to senior managers in private and public sector organisations, introduces participants to two powerful business and operational excellence strategies, developed to transform their business processes.
Lean Six Sigma is a proven Operational Excellence (OPEX) methodology that provides organisations with a systematic and scientific approach to solve business problems, which leads to enhanced profitability, improved productivity, increased customer satisfaction and an improved overall business performance. Using basic tools and techniques integrated within a powerful problem-solving methodology, participants will adopt lean and six sigma thinking and be equipped with skills and confidence to identify and reduce waste and variation in critical business processes.
Having successfully completed an open book Multiple Choice exam (15 multiple choice questions with a pass mark of 60%) at the end of day 2 and a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt project, participants will be awarded a Certificate in Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt. This Certificate provides a demonstration of managerial readiness and knowledge to develop and embed these techniques and tools within organisation strategy. This course can be used as a precursor for completing the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt course.
- The project can be completed either at an individual level or team level (maximum number of members per team is limited to three).
- The project must have followed Six Sigma methodology and used appropriate Lean or Six Sigma tools.
- The duration of the project is limited to 3 months but can be extended to 4 months in exceptional circumstances, but the candidates must be consulted with the course leader (Professor Antony) and get an approval for such cases.
- Project Charter should be completed by either an individual or team prior to attending the training and this should be provided to the course leader at least 3 weeks prior to the course delivery. A template of the project charter will be provided at least 5 weeks prior to the course.
- The project should deliver a business benefit of around £2.5 to £3k (individual level) and the benefit must be endorsed by the Finance Controller or Head of Finance or Finance manager/Director of the participant’s company. If a team of three are involved, we would expect a benefit of £7.5k to 9K to the bottom line of the organisation.
- A project report should be prepared in a word
document and the maximum word count for this is 1200-1500. Power-Point
slides are not acceptable and should not be provided to the course leader.
The report should cover the following key points:
- Nature of the problem and justification as to why LSS has been utilized for solving the problem
- Six Sigma methodology (explain each phase and the tools used within each phase of the methodology)
- Major challenges encountered and key lessons learned
- Key benefits achieved (financial and non-financial)
- Letter of endorsement for savings from the relevant Finance personnel in the organisation
