Understanding Sexual Violence & Abuse in Healthcare
September 2025 (exact dates TBC) | 1 day

Sexual violence and abuse has become one of the most prominent topics of discussion within healthcare, education and academia.

This masterclass will address key issues relating to sexual violence and abuse, including gender-based violence, with a focus on the role of health professionals in recognising, responding to, and supporting those affected (service users and colleagues). The masterclass offers practical, evidence-informed guidance to enhance professional knowledge, confidence, and trauma-informed practice in a range of health and care settings.

Key areas covered include:

  • Understanding the dynamics and impacts of sexual violence and abuse
  • Recognising signs and disclosures in healthcare contexts
  • Creating safe, trauma-informed environments for patients and colleagues
  • Addressing health inequalities and barriers to access services
  • Legal, ethical, and professional responsibilities in responding to disclosures
  • Working effectively with multi-agency partners and referral pathways
  • Reflective practice and safeguarding staff wellbeing

Please note places on this course are limited to 20 participants, allocated on a first come first served basis.
