Business School Hosts Employer & Alumni Engagement Event

The Department of Accounting & Finance at Northumbria University's Newcastle Business School hosted an employer and alumni engagement event for its current students on the evening of Thursday 3 November 2016.

The event was supported by representatives from fifteen employer organisations including large and medium sized accounting firms, wealth managers and corporates as well as third sector and public sector organisations.

The aim of the evening was to provide Business School students with the opportunity to network with a range of professionals and to allow for them to ask questions about careers, development opportunities and even, perhaps, disspell some common misconceptions around these sectors of work.

The event was attended by 39 final year undergraduate and masters' students with feedback received on the evening being very positive. Comments made by students included:

"Met some inspiring prospective employers from a range of small to large firms…..very impressed with the event".

"I have very much enjoyed this evening, the employers have been lovely and have provided brilliant advice"

"The evening was enjoyable as there were companies with a broad range of financial services. The alumni experiences were very very insightful"

The employers were equally enthusiastic about the event with one commenting that this was the best events of its kind that they had attended, with students being bright and engaged.
