Consett Academy & Sixth Form Staff Raise Aspirations

Staff from Consett Academy have proudly shown off their connection as graduates of Northumbria University, and other local universities, by wearing their University pin badges in a bid to raise the aspirations of their students. The scheme highlights which universities staff attended and acts as a conversation starter to promote Higher Education as an option to students who may not necessarily have considered this route.

The Academy & Sixth Form has around 25 members of staff that are alumni of Northumbria, with staff wearing their badges with pride since September. The school has also created activities and challenges for students to take part in which will require them to go to speak to those wearing the badges about their universities and find out more about further study.
