New HORIBA Foundation UK Scholarship

A pioneering new scholarship will enable motivated students from under-represented backgrounds to access higher education at Northumbria targeting those in the science and engineering disciplines. The scholarship recipient will additionally be offered mentoring, site visits and networking opportunities which plays such an important developmental role in the student journey and opportunities after graduation.

This new support is provided thanks to the generosity of university partner and supporter HORIBA Foundation UK who were inspired by Northumbria’s “Higher Education without Barriers” campaign and wished to get involved to make a difference.

HORIBA is a leading global company, headquartered in Japan, specialising in the design, manufacture and sale of cutting-edge analytical technology and measurement devices. HORIBA Foundation UK is the philanthropic arm of HORIBA UK, with the broad goal of making a positive impact in UK science.

Dr Simon FitzGerald at HORIBA UK said:

“HORIBA Foundation UK has a mission to actively support and advocate for equitable, diverse and inclusive science within higher education. As such we are delighted to support Northumbria’s Higher Education without Barriers campaign and hope this HORIBA Scholarship will inspire students, who may not otherwise attend university, to follow their dreams in science and engineering.”
