About the Speaker

Richard Serra is the Tottenham Hotspur FC Property Director.  He is a chartered surveyor; chartered town planner; native Geordie; and an alumnus of Northumbria University.  After a 20 year career in planning and regeneration consultancy, Richard joined Spurs full-time in 2015 and has been at the heart of the delivery of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Synopsis

Richard will describe the planning and property journey behind the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and some of the key facts and figures behind the multi-award winning stadium.  He will address some of the challenges that had to be overcome, including compulsory purchase; rights of light; legal challenges; and a multitude of planning applications.  He will also describe the role of the stadium in the wider regeneration of Tottenham.  His talk should be of interest to students and practitioners in planning, surveying, architectural and legal disciplines.
