Jamie Driscoll on Good Work

Jamie Driscoll was the North of Tyne Mayor from 2019 to 2024. Under his leadership, the Combined Authority created 5,377 new private sector jobs, safeguarded 3,277 more, and a further 2,533 jobs in construction, all backed by his Good Work Pledge. This had 5 pillars:

1. Paying the Real Living Wage

2. Promoting wellbeing beyond the legal minimum

3. Effective representation, including through trade union recognition

4. Building a diverse and balanced workforce, and

5. Demonstrating wider climate and social responsibility.

Come and listen to Jamie reflect on the successes and challenges of creating good employment without the legislative tools of central government. And what he thinks the future might hold for Good Work.
