Academic and English Language Requirements

All students will need to have a minimum of one-year study at Higher Education level and we will refer to a copy of your most recent transcript or results for a decision on this. The below table has selected criteria we also use to assess the minimum level of achievement for entry to Exchange or Study Abroad study. If your country does not feature in the table please contact the Exchanges & Study Abroad team for further clarification on this.

English Language Requirements

All incoming exchange and study abroad students are expected to provide proof of English language level as part of their application supporting documents.

The minimum language requirements for incoming exchange and study abroad can be found below:

If you will be studying undergraduate non final year modules:

  • IELTS: overall 6.0 (with minimum of 5.5 in each component)  
  • TOEFL IBT: overall 79 (with minimum R18, W17, L17, S20)
  • Or, an acceptable alternative qualification that meets the above 

If you will be studying undergraduate final year modules:

  • IELTS: overall 6.5 (with minimum of 5.5 in each component)  
  • TOEFL IBT: overall 89 (with minimum R18, W17, L17, S20)
  • Or, an acceptable alternative qualification that meets the above
