English Language

Incoming Erasmus+ students are required to have a minimum English language proficiency of CEFR B2. We rely on our Erasmus+ partner institutions to confirm this fact when nominating their students and for the student to provide proof with their application.

Please note that an Erasmus+ student travelling to the UK on a non-EU passport is subject to UKVI Immigration requirements for their UK visa and therefore they will need to submit a University recognised English language test as proof of language proficiency alongside their Erasmus+ application (ie: TOEFL IBT, IELTS or Pearsons).

Details of Northumbria's English Language Requirements can be found here including the minimum component score requirements.

All European and International students at Northumbria have the opportunity to study in-sessional ESAP (English for Specific Academic Purposes)  module alongside your academic modules to help develop your academic and English language skills in your Faculty and in your subject area.
