Projects Abroad - Sri Lanka

*You must have permission from your programme leader/guidance tutor before an offer can be made to you. Please forward to email confirming their support to er.study-abroad@northumbria.ac.uk.
Application deadline:
Monday 12th January at midday.
When:
Anytime between 1st September 2025 and 31st August 2026 for a duration of 2 weeks or 4 weeks.
The minimum duration is 2 weeks and the maximum duration is 4 weeks. Programmes must be completed by August 31st.
Nursing programmes are August only to fit in academic calendar for medical students
Spaces available for this project:
For 4 week programmes, there are 2 grants available for students who meet any of the widening participation criteria. and 1 smaller grant available for a student who does not meet any criteria.
For 2 week programmes, there are 2 grants available for students who meet any of the widening participation criteria. and 1 smaller grant available for a student who does not meet any criteria.
Students who are not accepted for funding can still participate in the programme and be covered by the university's insurance
Funding available:
For 4 week programmes, there are three grants available for students who meet any of the widening participation criteria:
- Living cost grant: £588
- Travel grant: up to £905
- Additional costs: up to £80 this supports payment towards buying/renewing a passport, travel insurance and vaccinations
For those who do not meet any of the criteria there is a grant of £476 available.
For 2 week programmes, there are three grants available for students who meet any of the widening participation criteria:
- Living cost grant: £294
- Travel grant: up to £905
- Additional costs: up to £40 this supports payment towards buying/renewing a passport, travel insurance and vaccinations
For those who do not meet any of the criteria there is a grant of £238 available.
Programme fee:
Programme cost varies between projects but all programmes have a registration fee of £195. Costs for all programmes can be found here. We have agreed with Projects Abroad for a special £250 discount from the advertised website project fees.
