The Thailand Full LLM Scholarship for September 2026

Northumbria Law School is seeking students of the highest calibre to join our LLM programmes and to pursue progression towards the Thai Assistant Judge Examination.

For the September 2026 intake, two Thailand Full LLM Scholarships will be awarded. Each scholarship provides a full tuition fee waiver, subject to the applicable terms and conditions stated below. One scholarship will be awarded for Law (International Commercial Law) LLM and one for Law (Cyber Law) LLM.

Applicants must complete and submit a written scholarship application form. Candidates who are shortlisted will be invited to attend an interview with the scholarship selection panel. For further details, see the application and selection process below:

To be eligible to apply for the Thailand Full LLM Scholarship for September 2026 intake you must:

  • Be an International student with 'Overseas' fee status living in Thailand, or an International student currently studying within the UK.
  • Be the applicant and hold an offer for either Law (International Commercial Law) LLM or Law (Cyber Law) LLM
  • Have passed the Thai Bar Examination
  • Apply for the Assistant Judge Exam within one year of completing your LLM at Northumbria University, Newcastle

  • Students selected for Thailand Full LLM Scholarship will no longer be eligible for any other postgraduate discounts
  • Sponsored students are not eligible for the LLM Scholarship
  • The scholarship is awarded as fee waiver and is not a cash sum
  • If you defer your place, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn
  • If you transfer to an ineligible course, your scholarship will be withdrawn
  • If you withdraw from your course before completion or fail to complete your course, you may be liable to pay a sum of fees
  • Northumbria University reserves the right to withdraw this scheme at any point
  • The University’s decision is final and cannot be challenged; there is no right of review and no right of appeal
  • Owning to the number of applications received, individual feedback cannot be provided to the applicants at either stage of the process

  • The Thailand Full LLM Scholarships are awarded on merit only.
  • All applications will be considered competitively and no consideration will be given to financial need
  • Offers are based on applicant’s academic performance and professional experience. Understanding of the current world legal issues and preparedness for the process of registration for the Thai Assistant Judge Examination will also be taken into consideration.

The application process for Scholarship is as follows:

Stage 1 – The Written Application

Applicants must complete and submit an online scholarship application form.  As part of the application, candidates will be required to provide:

  • Personal details
  • Academic transcripts for relevant degrees and/or qualifications
  • Evidence of successful registration with the Thai Bar
  • A current curriculum vitae (CV) outlining professional experience to date

Applicants must also submit a short essay on the following topic:

“Describe a global legal issue that inspires you, and explain how postgraduate study in law could help you contribute to addressing it.” - The essay must not exceed 3000 characters (500 words)

Applicants who successfully meet the criteria at Stage 1 will be shortlisted and invited to progress to Stage 2. Please note that progression to Stage 2 does not guarantee the award of a scholarship.

 

Stage 2 – The Interview

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview with a Scholarship Selection Panel, comprising academic members of Northumbria Law School
  • Interviews will be conducted online using a video conferencing platform such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom
