Bridgnorth, Shropshire

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I moved up here after graduating from Teesside University and worked in Newcastle saving up for the course. I always heard from family and friends that Northumbria had a good reputation.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I used to spend a lot of my summer and winter holidays in Newcastle and Northumberland (Mum's family is from Alnwick) and I always love going to the beaches especially Whitley Bay and Craster. I also love the art culture in Newcastle and love spending all afternoon in the Baltic.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How friendly the people are!

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Certainly did, especially with the tasks that the course did in the introductory week working with the other classmates some with students who have been to Northumbria before and some new.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

Course lecturers.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Cafe in Newcastle Business School.

What is the best thing about your course?

How much freedom that the course gives you to express your creativity.

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

Service Design, didn't know about it until this course and allowed me to find an area that interests me.

Have you worked on any projects with businesses or been on a placement? What were your most memorable experiences?

Offered placement with a company in London for this summer.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Keep an open mind, don't be afraid to say no to something that you don't know about take every opportunity that you can take.

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?

I've grown more in confidence and creativity working with different people and meeting people from all around the world
