Policies, Procedures & Guidance

We are continually reviewing existing policies and procedures to ensure they are in line with government legislation and reflect our Duty of Care to our Students.  New and updated policies and procedures will be added to this page when ratified.

If you are looking for or seeking advice on a particular policy or procedure, please contact The Director of Placements, James Wade, for information.

NB:  This page is the single source of the very latest/definitive version of all placements and partnerships policies and procedures - check here often for new and updated documentation.

Information regarding moving and handling whilst on placement can be found in the following documents:

Principles of Human Movement
Principles of Normal Movement
Moving and Handling Practical Sessions
The Law on Manual Handling
Risk Assessment

Students and Bank Holidays

The position for students is that Bank Holidays are included in the leave weeks in the training schedule. Therefore students do not automatically get Bank holidays off in practice and they can be rostered to work them.

If a student is allocated to an area that is closed on Bank Holidays the Mentor can do one of 3 things.

Plan the students experience hours in order that the student can complete the planned placement hours over the weeks which include the Bank Holiday.

Arrange for the student to undertake a period of experience in another area within the portfolio of learning experience.

Ask the student to undertake some pre-identified work which will be assessed as part of the measurement of the agreed practice outcomes. ( With the Health Visitor this would be the workbook).

Should you receive any queries from your students can you please refer to the information above.
