Digital Imaging for Slope Monitoring

Caption: Analysing slope failures in challenging coastal environments requires high resolution 3D surveys and change modelling, helping us to understand the complex nature of rock falls around key assetsSlope and slope related issues provide a critical challenge to civil engineering projects. Many key decisions have to be made based on inadequate or inappropriate data, and uncertainties over slope behaviour lead to heightened risks, escalating costs, and usually conservative design and planning. Our research is providing new levels of understanding of slopes, failures, and mitigation measures with high resolution, novel monitoring and modelling techniques. This offers fresh insights into the nature and causes of slope failures and new relevant slope data for policy and decision-making.
