Trojan Squadron

The Trojan Squadron  is a lodger unit at HMS Calliope in Newcastle on the River Tyne between the Millennium Bridge and the Tyne Bridge. All DTUS students at Northumbria are members of Trojan Squadron whilst studying for a degree and receive additional administrative and pastoral support.

Trojan Squadron’s mission is to educate and develop all students to prepare them for further training and careers as engineers and technical officers in the Armed Forces and MOD Civil Service.

This is achieved through a training programme designed to provide opportunities for:

  • Learning – to gain an understanding of engineering and technical officer roles in the Armed Forces and MOD Civil Service.
  • Development – to stimulate growth in individual, team and leadership abilities.
